Renewal, Cancellation, And Replacement Policies
Renew Employment Pass
Validity and Renewal:
- EP is valid for two years and can be renewed for a maximum of three years
- Renewal applications must be submitted through the MOM platform by the company or an employment agent.
- Submit renewal applications up to 6 months before the pass expires, but MOM needs to receive the renewal application at least 2 weeks before the expiration date.
- If renewal isn’t possible upon expiry, you’ll need to reapply for a new pass, but there’s no guarantee of successful renewal.
Application Conditions and Procedures:
- Each renewal considers new circumstances.
- Applicants must earn at least S$5,000 monthly.
- If approved, you’ll get an in-principle approval letter.
- Renewal requires the same steps as the initial application, like fingerprinting and photos.
- Return the old pass upon receiving the new one
Replacement of EP
If the EP card is stolen, lost, or damaged:
- The agent must apply for a replacement card within one week.
- If the card is stolen, the cardholder must submit a police report (in English or an English translation) along with the application form.
- If the EP holder is at overseas, the company should immediately inform MOM.
- Upon notification, MOM will issue a letter allowing the EP holder to enter Singapore.
The process and fees for a new ID card through myMOM:
- Once the application is submitted, the applicant is required to pay the following fees:
- Damaged card: S$60
- First-time lost card: S$100
- Subsequent lost cards: S$300 each
- Once approved, MOM will issue instructions on how to collect the new card through a credit card replacement letter.
- EP holders need to personally visit and collect the new pass within four working days.
Applicant doesn’t need an appointment, but the EP holder should bring the following documents:
- Original passport
- Replacement card letter
- Damaged card (if applicable)
- Declaration of lost or stolen certificates
- Police report (for stolen cards)
- If the lost card is found, it must be returned to MOM
Cancel Employment Pass
When an EP holder stops working or when the pass expires, here’s what happens:
Cancelling an EP:
- The company or employment agent must cancel the EP within a week.
- Before cancelling, the company needs to obtain tax clearance from IRAS to ensure the EP holder has settled their taxes.
- Cancel the EP via myMOM platform.
- After the EP is canceled and the holder remains in Singapore, they’ll receive a short-term visit pass.
Other related cancellation matter:
- Other related documents issued based on the Environmental Protection, such as DP, Long-Term Visit Passes, Letters of Consent, and Work Pass, will be simultaneously canceled.
- After leaving Singapore, the EP holder must return the short-term visit pass to the Immigration Office.
- If the pass is canceled, the company must return the EP card to MOM within a week.
Notify MOM of any updates
- Change in EP holder’s salary
- Change in company’s name or financial information
- Change in company address
- Change in business entity
- Transfer of a pass holder to a related company or transition to headquarters.
- EP holders change in pass holder’s occupation
- The EP holder goes missing
- Amendment of residential address or mobile number.
- Change in EP holder’s personal information
- Change in application details after pass is approved
